PHOENIX, AZ.- Defensively the event looked
exactly like a "first game of the season" for Concordia Wisconsin
as the Falcons dropped a 9-2 decision to Dordt College (5-8) on
Friday afternoon.
Sophomore center fielder Mathew Scasny (Pewaukee, Wis.) had
three hits for CUW and senior Adam Martz (West Bend, Wis.) slapped
a pair of doubles, but Dordt (playing the final game of their
week-long Arizona visit) scored six unearned runs during the game
to gain their fifth victory.
Val Keiper's team trailed by just 5-2 heading into the bottom of
the 7th but Dordt, an NAIA school, added four insurance runs over
the next two frames.
Senior Matt Parrent (Kewaskum, Wis.) pitched the first three
innings for CUW, striking out four and allowing one run. He was
relieved by Austin Baglow who gave up four runs in one inning,
although none of them were earned. Four other Concordia hurlers
followed, combining to allow five walks and three hit batters.
