Wrestling Falls to Raiders in Home Opener

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin wrestling team suffered a defeat in a dual against MSOE Friday night, losing 6-44. This was the first CCIW dual for the Falcons, who are now 0-2 in duals and 0-1 in conference matches.
 
The sole CUW win during the dual was at 133 with sophomore Anastacio Martinez (Albuquerque, N.M.). Martinez quickly took control of the matcha against MSOE's Connor McDonald. Just 1:44 in, Martinez forced a fall and pinned the Raider.
 
Senior Ruban Vasquez (Westminster, Calif.) had a close battle at 197. The contest lasted the full seven minutes but the Raiders' Gavin Graham took the win, 8-5.
 
Freshman Hunter Burr (Cudahy, Wis.) at 165 and junior Ethan Onan (Beach Park, Ill.) at 157 both lost by fall to their opponents. Sophomore KeiKei Evans (San Antonio, Texas) competed in the heavyweight matchup, losing by major decision.  The Falcons suffered three tech falls; freshman Elijah Torres (Chicago, Ill.) at 125, senior Dawson Galvan (Chula Vista, Wis.) at 174, and Tylan Watts (New Orleans, La.) at 184.
 
Freshman Octavio Singh (Houston, Texas) competed as an extra wrestler against Nick Comito for no team points. Singh defeated Signh by fall as the buzzer sounded to end the first period.
 
The Falcons are set to host the 31st Annual CUW Invite on Saturday, Nov. 22. One of the largest invites in NCAA Division III, is set to begin at 9 a.m. in John Buuk Field House.
