Box Score 2 MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's tennis team secured a pair of 7-0 sweeps on Saturday with victories at Lakeland and Marian. The sensational Saturday sends Concordia to 3-2 on the year and to 2-1 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.
The Falcons opened the morning at Lakeland and wasted no time reeling in the fish.
Senior Maddie Brashaw (Sheboygan, Wis.) and freshman Claire Kelley (Dubuque, Iowa) collected a 6-3 victory at No. 1 doubles and junior Payton Steward (Appleton, Wis.) and freshman Taylor Weiner (Bakersfield, Calif.) wrangled a 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles.
Lakeland forfeited points at No. 3 doubles and No. 5 and 6 singles.
At No. 1 singles Claire Kelley cruised to a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Olivia Heling.
Maddie Brashaw bounced in her return to her homeland against Mary Johnson at No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-3.
Payton Steward snagged Ireland Brickner at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0
Freshman Abigail Haley (Frohna, Mo.) brought out the 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 4 singles over Serena Brunner.
The Falcons then ventured west to battle with the Sabres.
Maddie Brashaw and Claire Kelley capped a perfect day with a 6-1 victory at No. 1 doubles.
Payton Steward and Taylor Weiner picked up a 6-0 victory on court two, while Abigail Haley and Katelyn de Guzman did so on court three.
Claire Kelley clocked Jillian Traver at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1.
Maddie Brashaw beat Monse Luquin at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-2.
Hazel Duchemin did not stand a chance at No. 3 singles, with Payton Steward cruising, 6-0, 6-1.
At No. 4 singles, Abigail Haley feasted on Josie Brunch, 6-0, 6-1.
Sophomore Kaitlyn de Guzman (Belvidere, Ill.) brought out the double doughnut on court five with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Maddie DeVries.
Taylor Weiner made quick work of Jenny Pierga at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
The Falcons return to action on Tuesday at Edgewood.
