ST. PETER, Minn. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's tennis team opened play at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional Championships and the Midwest Invite on Friday and Saturday.
Freshman Claire Kelley (Dubuque, Iowa) fell short against Reese Burton of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in the ITA Singles Draw, 6-1, 6-1.
The Falcons also competed in the Midwest Invite
At Draw No. 2, freshman Abigail Haley (Frohna, Mo.) downed Jayda Floyd of Dubuque, 8-4. She then topped Alexis Tatum of Loras, 8-5. Doyeon Kim of Grinnell ended the run with an 8-4 victory.
At Draw No. 6, junior Payton Steward (Appleton, Wis.) sank Macie Ruddy of Northwestern. Dari Streater of Macalester then advanced with an 8-2 victory.
Freshman Samantha Murda (Hartford, Wis.) was topped by Kaitlyn Narkis of Edgewood, at No. 9 draw, 8-1.
Freshman Taylor Weiner (Bakersfield, Calif.) fell short at Draw No. 10 against Morgan Briggman of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, 8-3.
In the doubles draw, Payton Steward and Taylor Weiner were topped by Annalise Skrade and Ava Lowman of Concordia Moorhead, 6-1.
Abigail Haley and Sammy Mudra defeated Sarah Langridge and Rein Jayashi of Northwestern, 6-3. The duo were then stopped by Eliana Martin and Kayla Surpless of Grinell, 6-2.
The Falcons return to action on Tuesday against Illinois Tech.
