MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin wrestling team fell to Aurora, 9–6, in its final home dual of the 2025–26 season. The Falcons drop to 2–8 in duals on the year.
Prior to the start of the match, CUW honored its seniors:
Frank Budederi (Cedar Rapids, Iowa),
Dawson Galvan (Chula Vista, Calif.),
Ruben Vasquez (Westminster, Calif.), and student assistant Seth Elliot (Long Beach, Calif.).
Senior
Dawson Galvan earned the Falcons' lone victory of the night at 197 pounds against Denim Ashley. Galvan quickly took control with a takedown and secured a pin at the 2:58 mark to put CUW on the board.
Sophomore
Anastacio Martinez (Albuquerque, N.M.) battled Tyler Evitts in a tightly contested match at 133 pounds. After surrendering the opening takedown, Martinez responded with a reversal and added four points in the second period with an escape and a takedown to take a 6–3 lead. Evitts regained control in the third period with a takedown and near-fall, and despite a late escape by Martinez, the Falcon fell by decision, 10–7.
Freshman
Ben Kaus (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) opened strong at 149 pounds against Ashton Massaro, recording a takedown, near-fall, and reversal to take a 9–4 lead after the first period. Massaro responded in the second, pinning Kaus at the 3:52 mark.
Freshmen
Elijah Torres (125, Chicago Ill.),
Kyle Sorenson (197, Union Grove, Ill.), and
Tyson Skubal (165, Menoqua, Wis.) each suffered losses by fall, with Skubal's coming at the 4:33 mark. Sophomore
Sam Bagler (141, Braidwood, Ill.) and
Frank Budederi (157) were defeated by technical fall, while CUW forfeited at 184 and 285.
The Falcons return to the mat next Friday, January 30, at the Pete Willson Invitational hosted by Wheaton. The two-day tournament begins Friday at 11 a.m. in King Arena.
