MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Athletics Department has announced the appointment of Mitch Rogers as interim head coach of the baseball program.
"I am pleased to announce that Mitchell Rogers will step up from his assistant coaching role to become the interim Head Baseball Coach for the 2026 season," said Director of Athletics Dr. Rob Barnhill. "Mitch has impressed us all in his time here and he deserves this opportunity."
Rogers is in his second season with the Concordia Wisconsin baseball program. During his first year with the Falcons, two pitchers earned All-Conference honors under his guidance. He replaces Eddy Morgan, who has accepted a position with the Milwaukee Brewers organization.
"First and foremost, I would like to thank Coach Morgan for being a significant mentor in my young coaching career," said Mitch Rogers. "I wish him the best as he starts this new chapter with the Milwaukee Brewers. I am honored and grateful for this opportunity presented by Dr. Barnhill and Concordia University Wisconsin to serve as the Interim Head Baseball Coach. I look forward to leading this team with energy, passion, and purpose every single day. I'm fired up because our guys are fired up!"
Rogers joined CUW with two years of prior coaching experience, bringing a strong background in player development and pitching strategy. Prior to arriving in Mequon, he served as the Interim Head Coach of the Lakeshore Chinooks of the Northwoods League during the summer of 2024.
Under Rogers' leadership, the Chinooks' pitching staff ranked among the league's top 10 in strikeouts per nine innings, first-pitch strike percentage, and fewest home runs allowed. He also played a key role in player development, helping Cohen Achen become a 14th-round MLB Draft pick of the Baltimore Orioles and guiding two additional pitchers to professional contracts with the Lake Country DockHounds.
Rogers began his coaching career as a Student Assistant at Tennessee Tech University in the fall of 2023, working closely with the Golden Eagles' pitching staff. That season, Tennessee Tech led the Ohio Valley Conference in walks allowed per nine innings and earned run average, while ranking second in strikeouts per nine innings. The Golden Eagles finished the year with a 29-26 overall record.
As a student-athlete, Rogers competed at three collegiate levels, playing at NCAA Division I Western Carolina, NJCAA Dyersburg State, and NAIA Cumberland University. During his two seasons at Cumberland, he recorded 112 strikeouts over 87.2 innings pitched and helped lead the Phoenix to a regional tournament appearance, earning the start in the opening game. Rogers earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Cumberland University in 2023.
