Men’s Hockey Opens Harris Cup Playoffs at St. Norbert

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's hockey team opens postseason play once again this weekend. The Falcons are making their 11th postseason appearance in program history and their fourth consecutive trip to the playoffs.

The senior class of 2026 becomes the first class in program history to qualify for the Harris Cup Playoffs in all four years of their careers.

Concordia will face a familiar foe in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Harris Cup Playoffs as they travel to take on St. Norbert College.

The Green Knights enter the weekend ranked No. 5 in this week's U.S. College Hockey Online (USCHO) poll with a 17-6-2 overall record. They are the No. 2 seed in the tournament after finishing 13-3-2 in conference play.

The two schools split their January series. Concordia earned a 1-0 victory on Friday night in Mequon, as sophomore Connor Van Weelie scored the lone goal of the contest. Junior Blake Hazelton was outstanding in net, turning aside 43 shots for the shutout. On Saturday night, the Green Knights responded with a narrow victory, scoring the game-winning goal at the 18:36 mark of the third period.

St. Norbert leads the all-time series 21-4-1, though the Falcons have gone 1-1-1 in the last three meetings.

This marks Concordia's 11th appearance in the Harris Cup Playoffs. The Falcons are 0-16-1 all-time in postseason play and 0-1-1 against St. Norbert in the playoffs. The two teams met in De Pere last season, with Concordia earning its first-ever postseason non-loss in a tie.

Nationally, the Falcons rank 18th in penalty killing percentage (.856). Senior Derek Humphreys ranks fifth in the nation with two shorthanded goals.

The weekend series will consist of two games. If the teams split the series, a 20-minute mini-game will immediately follow Saturday's contest to determine who advances to the Harris Cup Semifinal on Feb. 28.
