MEQUON, Wis. – The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) released its Student-Athlete of the Week honor for men's tennis on Tuesday morning. The athletic communications professionals voted Murilo Zeni as the NACC Student-Athlete.
Murilo Zeni is claiming the honor for the first time in his young career.
The freshman from Curitiba, Brazil, helped the Falcons go 3-2 over spring break in Florida.
In singles play, he went 4-1 on the week, going 4-0 against NCAA Division III opponents. He posted victories at No. 2 singles over Rose-Hulman (7-6, 6-3), Trine (7-5, 6-3), Concordia Moorhead (7-6, 4-2), and Alma (6-1, 6-1).
Zeni also went 2-3 in doubles play in Florida. With sophomore Hayden Latus, the duo down Concordia Moorhead at No. 1 doubles, 6-3. He then won at No. 3 doubles with freshman Justin Giese over Alma, 6-3.
This is the second time this season that a Falcon has claimed the honor, the first being Hayden Latus on February 4.
Zeni and the Falcons return to action on March 28 at St. Norbert.
