ANGOLA, Ind. – The Concordia Wisconsin acrobatics & tumbling team had plenty to celebrate on Friday evening in Indiana. The Falcons posted a season-best score of 221.685 points in victories over Trine (217.405) and East Texas Baptist (199.475). CUW improves to 3-2 with the victories.
The Falcons opened the meet with a season-high 30.15 points in the compulsory event. CUW secured a season-best 9.55 points in the pyramid heat.
The Birds followed with a season-best 23.80 points in the acro event.
The Falcons soared even higher with a season-high 27.80 points in the pyramid event. Concordia cruised in the open pyramid with 9.90 points from senior Emily Ruka (Racine, Wis.), senior Jadyn Vail (Belvidere, Ill.), senior Ainslee Taylor (Alto, Mich.), junior Cadia Sanders (Joppa, Md.), senior MariaDelCarmen Betancourt (Miami, Fla.), sophomore Lydia Street (Milbank, S.D.) and junior Gabby Dixon (Elkhorn, Wis.).
Concordia collected 24.05 points in the toss event as Trine inched closer.
The tumbling event tallied 40.775 points for the Falcons, highlighted by season-best marks in the quad pass with 6.00 points from sophomore Jenna Gardner (Waukesha, Wis.), Gabby Dixon, freshman Frankie Evitch (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) and freshman Kirsten Bailey (Andover, Minn.). The Falcons also earned 7.35 points in the aerial pass from Ainslee Taylor.
Concordia led the Thunder 146.575 to 146.475 heading into the team event.
The Blue and White soared to a season-best 75.11 points in the team event to secure the victory.
Concordia recorded the top score in six heats on Friday and finished with season-best marks in seven heats and four events.
The Falcons look to carry the momentum into the final home meet of the season on Friday against Calvin.
