Falcons Soar Over Trine in D3 Semifinals

MARSHALL, Texas – The Concordia Wisconsin acrobatics & tumbling team didn't just punch its ticket to the finals… it made a statement doing it.

The Falcons soared past Trine with a commanding 216.635–203.580 victory in the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) Division III Invitational semifinals on Friday evening. With the win, Concordia improves to 6-2 on the season.

After splitting the regular season series with road wins, there was no drama this time around, just dominance.

Concordia came out firing in the compulsory event, racking up 29.08 points while sweeping all four heats. The pyramid heat set the tone with a crisp 9.43, and from there, the Falcons never looked back.

The lead only grew in the acro event, where Concordia posted 23.90 points and took the six- and seven-element heats.

By the time the pyramid event rolled around, the Falcons were in full control, putting up 25.98 points, including a season-best 9.38 in the synchronized pyramid.

A 24.45 in the toss event to keep the pressure firmly on Trine.

The Thunder managed to edge the Falcons in the tumbling event (40.625), but even that came with Concordia highlights. Senior Ainslee Taylor (Alto, Mich.) and junior Cadia Sanders (Joppa, Md.) delivered a season-best 7.275 in the duo pass, while Taylor stuck the program's top aerial pass of the year at 7.950.

Concordia put the finishing touches on the performance with a dominant 72.61 in the team event.

When it was all said and done, the Falcons owned 11 of the 19 heats and left little doubt about who was moving on.

Next up is the championship showdown.

The Falcons will face No. 13 Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday in a clash between the only two programs to ever claim the Division III crown. Concordia took the inaugural title in 2022, while the Crusaders have held the throne ever since.

Trine wraps up its season at 6-3.

Concordia opens Saturday with event finals at 11:00 a.m. before taking the mat for the championship showdown at 6:00 p.m. at East Texas Baptist.
