MEQUON, Wis. – Greg Etter, head coach of the Concordia University Wisconsin football team, has been named the 2025–26 CUW Locke Family Coach of the Year. The award, established in 2024 and presented by Andrew (CUW '89 & '97) and Jennifer (CUW '92 & '97) Locke, recognizes a coach who demonstrates exceptional leadership, performance, and impact on Falcon Athletics.
Etter, now in his 18th season at CUW, becomes the third recipient of this annual honor.
The award includes a commemorative plaque, permanent recognition in the CUW Athletics lobby, a financial gift to the football program, and a cash award to the recipient. He will be honored at the department meeting in August.
Under Etter's leadership, the Falcons produced one of the most successful seasons in program history, continuing to climb the ladder within the NACC. Concordia finished with a 9-2 overall record and captured the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) title with a perfect 8-0 mark in league play after being projected to finish fourth in the preseason poll. The Falcons also hosted the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament game at Tomasini Stadium this fall.
Etter's success was widely recognized throughout the 2025 season, as he was named the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Private School Coach of the Year and led his staff to NACC Coaching Staff of the Year honors.
To be considered for the Locke Family Coach of the Year Award, nominees must be put forward by a peer and evaluated on leadership, program success, representation of CUW Athletics, and career contributions. Nominations are collected by the Athletic Communications Office, with additional feedback gathered anonymously from the CUW community. Head and assistant coaches with at least three years of service are eligible, and past recipients must wait a minimum of three years before being considered again.
