Falcons Showcase Resilience Throughout 2025-26 Wrestling Season

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin men's wrestling team continued to compete against one of the nation's toughest conference schedules during the 2025-26 season, gaining valuable experience while earning individual recognition both on the mat and in the classroom.

The Falcons finished the season with a 2-10 overall record and a 0-7 mark in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW). Competing in one of Division III's premier wrestling conferences, Concordia placed 10th in the final CCIW regular season standings.

The season began with a strong performance as the Falcons earned their first dual victory of the year with a 35-16 win over Linfield. The victory showcased the team's potential early in the season and provided momentum as Concordia entered a challenging slate of conference and tournament competition.

Throughout the year, the Falcons continued to develop both individually and as a team while facing nationally recognized opponents across the Midwest. One of the season's highlights came on February 10 when Ben Kaus was named CCIW Men's Wrestling Student-Athlete of the Week. The honor recognized his achievements both on the mat and in the classroom while representing the Falcons program.

Concordia also competed at the CCIW Futures Tournament, where the Falcons accumulated 32.5 points to place eighth overall.

The Falcons concluded their conference season at the CCIW Championships, finishing 10th as a team with 22 points. Despite the difficult competition, Concordia continued to battle throughout the tournament and gained momentum heading into regional competition.

At the NCAA Division III Region VII Championships, Anastacio Martinez turned in one of the top performances of the season for the Falcons. Wrestling at 133 pounds, Martinez advanced through the opening day of competition and remained in contention among the region's top wrestlers. On the second day of the championships, Martinez concluded his season with an eighth-place finish, highlighting his perseverance and success against some of the strongest competitions in the country.

The Falcons also excelled academically throughout the year. Ruben Vasquez earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District At-Large Team honors, recognizing his achievements in the classroom while competing at a high level on the mat.

With returning talent and a commitment to continued development, the Falcons will look to build upon the lessons learned during the 2025-26 campaign.
