ANGOLA, Ind. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's ACHA D2 team shutout Trine, 5-0, on the road Friday night. The Falcons now improve to 14-7 on the season.
This is the second time this season the two teams have faced each-other. The first time was on Oct. 17 in the CUW Showcase, where the Falcons won 6-4. This is also the eighth straight victory over the Thunder for the Royal Blue and Grey.
A key part of the Falcons win was the goaltending. Earning his first shutout of the year, senior
Austin Bartell (New Berlin, Wis.) was solid in the crease collecting 19 saves.
On offense, junior
Chuck Emme (Glenview, Ill.) was the first to score during the contest. With help from graduate student
Tommy Cassel (Grafton, Wis.), who set up the shot with a perfect pass, Emme scored at the 11:58 mark.
The Falcons were not content with only one goal, and went on to score three in the second period. Just over two minutes into the second, junior
Owen Almburg (Glenville, Ill.) gave the puck graduate student
Nolan Judge (Glendale, Ariz.) to score.
Sophomore
Dominic Murano (Milwaukee, Wis.) scored just four minutes after Judge. Graduate Student
Andrew Malek (Milwaukee, Wis.) earned the assist on the play. The final goal of the period was by Emme. His second of the night. This time graduate student and captain
Garrett Wilderman (Waukesha, Wis.) was credited with the assist.
The final goal that cemented the Falcons' win came in the third period. Sophomore
Robby White (Cedarburg, Wis.) found the back of the net after fellow sophomore
Tyler Reinke (Franklin, Wis.) gave him the puck.
The Falcons will return to the Thunder Ice Arena tomorrow to wrap up the two-game series against Trine. Puck drop is slated for 5:15 p.m. ET.
