Falcons Earn Pair of Dual Victories in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS – The Concordia Wisconsin wrestling team traveled west to compete in the Desert Duals, hosted at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas. The Falcons wrestled three duals on the day, finishing with a 2–1 record.
 
Dual 1 | Menlo 53, CUW 0
Concordia opened the day against NCAA Division II Menlo College (Calif.) and faced a tough challenge. The Falcons' losses came via two major decisions, three pins, three technical falls, and one forfeit.
 
Dual 2 | CUW 35, Linfield 16
The Falcons rebounded in their second dual, defeating regional opponent Linfield (Ore.) 35–16 to earn their first dual victory of the 2025–26 season.
 
With no competitors at 125 pounds, the dual began at 133. Sophomore Anastacio Martinez (Albuquerque, N.M.) got Concordia off to a strong start, pinning Jacob Moore after building a 14-point lead with two takedowns and four nearfalls.
 
At 141, freshman Noah Henderson (Hartland, Wis.) battled for the full seven minutes but fell by technical fall, 20–5, to Max Vander Meide.
 
The Falcons then rattled off four consecutive wins. Freshman Ben Kaus (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) earned a 22–7 technical fall at 149 pounds in 4:07 against Damon Gasilosl. Freshman Reese Elliott (San Jacinto, Calif.) followed with a forfeit win at 157. At 165, freshman Tyson Skubal (Minocqua, Wis.) pinned Lucien Lefebvre just 55 seconds into the match. Freshman Hunter Burr (Cudahy, Wis.) closed the stretch with a pin at 174, defeating Alfonso Tapia as the first period expired.
 
Linfield picked up two wins by pin at 184 and 197 against freshman Tylan Watts (New Orleans, Wis.) and senior Dawson Galvin (Chula Vista, Calif.).
 
Sophomore KeiKei Evans (San Antonio, Texas) sealed the dual at heavyweight, pinning Julian Ortiz at the end of the first period.
 
Dual 3 | CUW 33, Pacific (Ore.) 21
The Falcons closed the day with a 33–21 win over Pacific (Ore.). The dual featured four forfeits, with CUW forfeiting at 125 and Pacific forfeiting at 141, 149, and 197, awarding wins to Henderson, Kaus, and senior Ruben Vasquez (Westminster, Calif.).
 
Pacific claimed the next three contested bouts. Martinez fell by major decision, 13–5, to Thomas Turner at 133. At 157, Marcelas Curtis pinned Skubal, and Burr dropped a technical fall, 20–3, to Matthew Gray at 165.
 
Concordia secured the dual by winning the final three matches. Watts earned a 7–2 decision over Logan Lewi at 174. Galvin followed with a pin of Spree Nelson at 184 just 1:45 into the match.
 
The Falcons capped the day with another quick pin at heavyweight, as Samuel Smith pinned Braxton Cottam 32 seconds into the second period.
 
Concordia Wisconsin returns to action after the holiday break with a road dual at Elmhurst on Jan. 9, set for 7 p.m. at R.A. Faganel Hall in Elmhurst, Ill.
