Triathlon Makes a Splash in the Season Opener

FISHERS, Ind. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's triathlon team opened the 2025 campaign on Sunday morning with a strong showing at the Geist Triathlon at the Geist Waterfront Park.

The sprint triathlon had student-athletes from all three NCAA Divisions and consisted of a 500-meter swim, a 12.5-mile bike ride, and a 3.1-mile run.

North Central claimed the team title on Sunday with 174 points.

Junior Anya Mattke (Fox Point, Wis.) led the flock in 28th place at 1:19.15. She posted a 8:00 swim, 40:48 bike and a 28:28 run time.

In 33rd place was senior Darya Gunderman (Minneapolis, Minn.) at 1:22:00, just ahead of junior Sydney Morgan (Brandon, Wis.) in 34th place at 1:22:03. Morgan closed the race on a strong note with the fastest run for Concordia, clocking in at 25:45.

Junior Cadia Sanders (Joppa, Md.) rounded out the group in 35th place at 1:23:35. Sanders notched the fastest bike time of the morning for CUW at 40:34.

The Falcons return to action on. Oct. 3 for the Millikin Splash and Dash in Clinton, Illinois.
