MEQUON, Wis. – On Tuesday morning, The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) announced its Student-Athlete of the Week honors for football. Marquiton Sellers was voted as the NACC Defensive Player of the Week by the league's athletic communications professionals.
A senior defensive lineman from Winnsboro, Louisiana, Marquiton Sellers is claiming the honor for the first time this season and for the second time in his career.
Sellers played a key role in the Falcons' 28-20 double-overtime victory over Benedictine on Saturday.
He finished the game with 10 tackles, including a sack during the second overtime that put Benedictine behind the chains early. He also blocked a field goal attempt in the first half that he later recovered.
Sellers is the first Falcon to claim the honor for defense since Justice Kaneta on Oct. 29, 2023.
This is the second time this season that a Falcon has been honored by the NACC. Nick Klein was voted as the NACC Special Teams Player of the Week on Sept. 7 for his game at Thiel.
The Louisiana native also claimed the honor on Sept. 17, 2023 for his performance in a victory at Lakeland.
The Spartans of Aurora claimed the other two honors of the week with TJ Ramsey as the NACC Offensive Player of the Week and Trey Urweiler as the NACC Special Teams Player of the Week.
Sellers and the Falcons face another tough test on Saturday when they travel north to St. Norbert.
