MEQUON, Wis. – The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) announced its Student-Athlete of the Week Awards on Wednesday morning for women's outdoor track & field. The league's athletic communications professionals voted Ainara Sainz de Rozas as the Women's Track Student-Athlete of the Week.
A senior distance runner from Madrid, Spain, Ainara Sainz de Rozas is claiming the honor for the first time this track season and for the 10th time in her career.
Sainz de Rozas shattered the school and conference record in the 5,000-meter run at the Wisconsin-Platteville Invitational.
She won with a time of 16:17.01, that currently tops the NCAA Division III performance list by over three seconds.
She broke her own NACC and CUW record of 16:32.74 she set with a fourth-place finish at last year's NCAA Championships.
Kylee Doherty of Edgewood was selected as the NACC Field Athlete of the Week.
Sainz de Rozas and the Falcons return to action again on Friday at the Augustana Meet of Champions.
