MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's hockey team was again honored by the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) on Tuesday morning. The NCHA announced its Three Stars of the Week honors on Tuesday morning and the Falcons landed two of the honorees with Eva Kingston and Mackaylan McGown claiming the honor for their performances against Beloit.
A junior goalie from Brooks, Alberta, Eva Kingston is claiming the honor for the first time in her career. In her first start for the Falcons on Saturday, she stopped all 18 shots that she faced in the 9-0 shutout over Beloit.
A junior center from Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, Mackaylan McGown is also claiming the honor for the first time in her storied career. The Minnesota native opened the weekend with an assist and 12 faceoff victories in the 2-0 victory. She than blasted the Buccaneers with two goals and two assists in the 9-0 victory, where she also won eight faceoffs.
Tuesday marked the first time this season the first-place Falcons have claimed multiple honorees. Concordia has had Makayla Spejcher, Carolyn Bourgeault and Naomi Black all honored once the season.
Marian defender Ella Spies was named the other NCHA Star of the Week.
The Falcons return to action on Friday for a key NCHA series against No. 14 St. Norbert.
